Exciting Music

Exciting Music is a proposal that includes a guided visit of approximately 1 hour to the Palau de la Música Catalana, a gourmet proposal inspired by traditional catalan cooking in the restaurant Brasserie Flo and the visit of a curious character from 1910 who will ease your evening with down-to-earth tales about architecture and music.

The visit

The Palau de la Música, headquarters of the Orfeó Català, was built by Lluís Domènech i Montaner between 1905 and 1908 and is an exemple of catalan generosity as it was financed with funds from popular subscription. This peculiarity, so significant, has propitiated the Palace towards being considered an authentic cultural landmark for everyone in Barcelona.

The Palau is an extraordinary building that’s unique from every architectural point of view, but what makes it especially relevant is the fact that hosts the only modernist concert hall of its time, a fact that has made it deserving of being declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Building is an inescapable point inside the Modernist route in Barcelona.

During the guided tour we’ll observe the rehearsal room of the Orfeò Català, where the first piece of the building was originally placed in 1905. In this spot, for more than a 100 years, the chorus of the Orfeò Català regularly rehearses.

The walk continues until the Lluís Millet hall, from where we’ll be able to see the great exterior balcony with columns decorated with all kinds of flowers; in a homage to nature. Afterwards we’ll access the magnificent concert hall, where a splendid portrayal of creativity and decorative art composed by sculptures, shapes, colors and luminosity give a surprising welcome to the visitors. On the second floor, you can admire the spectacular skylight and the organ of the Palau, which majestically presides the audience.

At the end of the visit, the participants will be able to have a meal in the Brasserie Flo restaurant, with a menu inspired by the traditional Catalan cooking of the early 20th Century.

The evening will be interrupted by the appearance of an early 20th Century character who will make the most of the situation by charmingly speaking with the participants about architecture, music and other curiosities of modernist Barcelona.

The visit can take place in the afternoon (with a dinner taking place afterwards) or in the morning (with a lunch instead).

Guided tours can be done in any language (booked in advance).

The theatrical activity is done in Catalan, Spanish and English. For non-English-speaking groups, please contact Barcelona Exciting: and

Exciting Music lasts approximately 3 hours and it is not recommended for children under 8.
